On options that include the guided experience, begin in Évora with admission to the Chapel of Bones. Inside this unusual Franciscan chapel, discover a space whose walls and pillars are lined with human bones and skulls and learn about the ideas of mortality and reflection behind its creation.

Continue inside the Church of São Francisco, a major religious monument rebuilt during the 15th and 16th centuries. Your guide introduces you to the church's history and architectural details before continuing through the historic centre.

Explore Évora's Historic Centre

Walk through the centre of Évora, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986, while your guide connects the city's Roman, medieval and later history.

Stop at the Roman Temple of Évora, a 1st-century monument that formed part of the Roman forum and was probably dedicated to the imperial cult. Continue to Évora Cathedral, Portugal's largest medieval cathedral, admired from the exterior as part of the guided route.

Taste Ervideira Wines in Monsaraz

Finish the Alentejo experience at the Ervideira Wine Shop in Monsaraz, located in the village's former primary school. On options that include the tasting, sample a selection of Ervideira wines while learning about the wines and the producer from the tasting host.

The Wine Shop also looks across the Alentejo landscape towards Alqueva, creating a fitting final stop before the return journey to Lisbon. Participants under 18 may join the tour but do not take part in the alcoholic wine tasting.
