Porto Gastronomy & History Walk
Description
Porto is a city you can taste — but first, you need to understand it. Porto Gastronomy & History Walk (No Tastings Included) is a guided walking experience that connects Porto’s landmarks to the people, traditions and flavours that shaped the city.
Over roughly 3 hours, you’ll explore the historic centre with a local storyteller, stopping at classic cafés, taverns, traditional shops and the iconic Bolhão Market. Along the way you’ll uncover the origins of Tripas à Moda do Porto, the story of the francesinha, the rituals around coffee, and the wider historical threads that influenced Portuguese and European gastronomy.
This is not a traditional food tour — and that’s the point. No tastings are included. Instead, you get context, recommendations and local know-how, while keeping full control of your budget. If something catches your eye, you can taste or buy it and pay directly on the spot. If not, you still get the full experience through the stories and the route. We finish with guidance to a traditional restaurant so you can enjoy a proper local meal after the tour.
